But when Business in Vancouver Magazine needed a success story for a counterpoint to the doom and gloom, they turned to Craftsman Wood Products.

“With the wood industry and manufacturing in general facing such difficult times Craftsman could have down-sized and try to wait out these tough times but that just isn’t what we are all about. We owe it to all the stakeholders in Craftsman to prosper in difficult times, so after a strategic audit of the business, we charted a course and set about doing just that.” commented Richard Wilson, President.

The article outlined the many changes Craftsman has made in their business in order to stay relevant to its customer base and the efforts to expand further into diversified markets to stay prosperous in tough times.

“Craftsman began to work on diversifying from the new construction market in the US about 18 months before the collapse. With a greater emphasis on the renovation market and a resurgence in our Japanese business Craftsman is now well positioned to grow despite the tough US housing market” summarized Wilson.
